Tamil Nadu Elections 2026: Karaikudi Poll Battle Heats Up as Seeman’s Entry Triggers Four-Way Contest (Yupp.Ai)
Chennai: Karaikudi seat of Tamil Nadu is in election discussion this time. Although this seat in Sivagangai district has been important earlier also, the contest in 2026 looks a little different. The reason is new entry and dividing votes. With Naam Tamizhar Kachi's chief Seeman entering the fray, the contest was not straightforward.
Earlier the picture was a bit clear here, but now it is not so. Many parties are in the fray. Everyone is busy capturing their share of votes. In such a situation, it is not clear which way the result will go.
Karaikudi has a mix of different communities. The Nagarathar community has an influence, but it is not the only factor. OBC and SC votes are also important. The number of youth who can silently change the environment has increased.
Here things are happening more on a daily basis than big politics. Jobs, water, roads – all these issues come up again and again. Chettinad's identity and tourism are also in discussion, but while voting, people look more at work.
Seeman (NTK), Congress's Mangudi, AMMK's Pandi and TVK's Prabhu, four big names are in front. Every candidate is trying to strengthen his ground, but the contest seems to be equal.
Seeman has his own vote bank. Especially the youth listen to them. He talks straight, which attracts people. In such a situation, he can spoil the game of other parties.
Last time Congress had won here. Even before that, he had benefited. That means this seat has been leaning towards one side for a long time, but this time the situation does not seem to be the same.
There is resentment among the youth regarding jobs. Many people are going out for work. In such a situation, which way their votes will go is a big question.
Nothing has been decided yet. The competition is open. The result of Karaikudi will also tell whether Tamil Nadu politics will continue on the old path or something new will be seen.
